House TV is a holiday house on an island of Silba in Croatia, built as a summer house for a Slovenian family.

The site, a 2-minute walk from the beach, is a large old pine garden, planted in the beginning of a 20th century and surrounded by a thick dry-stone wall. The existing house, abandoned for a few decades, was initially built for an affluent sea merchants family, and bought by the present owners in a completely dilapidated state.

During a process of reconstruction of the old house into a simple, easy to use and maintain summer house, most of the structures of the old building had to be replaced, having been damaged beyond repair through neglect.

During the process, a new pavilion was added to the existing building, extending its footprint twice, in order to provide an open-air living room for the family, as well as the guest room for frequently visiting friends.

Using the same main material – stone used for the original building, the new pavilion definitely bears traces of today’s construction methods – the entire new building is cast in visible concrete, sanded and polished on the interior, and clad in loosely held dry-stone wall.
